Winter is the best time of year in the Byron Hinterland .. still warm enough to enjoy the beaches and bushwalking, but without the humidity.

We are located at 72 Charltons Road, Federal NSW 2480.

If you’re driving into Federal via Byron Bay or Lismore, just drive straight through the village and Charltons Road is the first right after Jaspers Corner (the little white wedding venue on the right).

Once you get on Charltons, you just drive until you hit the dirt, the road will go down a slight hill, and at the bottom is a fork in the road, our driveway is on the far right, see photos below for reference.

Just drive down the short driveway and Collett Cottage is to the right, please feel free to park in the carport and we’ll greet you upon arrival.

We run Rural Machinery Repair Service from the farm, and keep old tractors and other machinery around the place, we occasionally run cattle on a few of the top paddocks, but not for long and only when our neighbouring farms need some extra space or to separate some of their cattle.

The rest of the farm is used for recreation, we have fruit trees, pecans and vegetable boxes for our own use, the presence of Mr Boags & Miss Myrtle , and there love of chicken prevents us from keeping chooks however!

Collett Park is 100 acres of gum plantation and a joint venture with State Forests.

Home to a large population of Koalas and other native species it will remain a wildlife sactuary for as long as we are custodians of the land, and long afterwards we hope.

The fire trails are well maintained to allow access to the park, these are available for walking, but bear in mind this is a journey for the adventurous, so let us know if you would like to take a look around and we will provide a map and some tips.

Through the centre of the park runs a naturally occurring spring fed creek which opens up to a large waterhole about 3/4 of the way down.

You might hear a number of unusual noises from the forest while staying at the cottage, in particular the birdlife and fighting Koalas, please don’t be alarmed, but if any critters are disturbing you please let us know and we will do our best to take care of it.
